Honeywell Site redevelopment, have your say

Many residents of the Studley Ward that are facing the Yarra will be concerned by the proposed redevelopment of the Honeywell site on the banks of the Yarra in Richmond.
While the planning application is with the City of Yarra, I urge concerned residents to submit their concerns to the City of Yarra planning dept, even after the due date, but quickly.
Information about the proposal can be found at http://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/planning/Statutory%20Planning/Honeywell%20Site.asp

In short the proposal seeks to accommodate:
· 586 apartments
· (with a mix of bedroom numbers)
· Two restaurants
· Office Suites
· Medical centre (dentist)
· Convenience shop
· Tavern (wine bar)
· Part-basement car park with approx 668 spaces
· One vehicle access point via the existing Victoria Street crossover (which would be slightly widened)
· A new publically accessible access route through the site, with new cycling and pedestrian connections to the existing river paths
· An average 6-star energy rating for the dwellings.

The City of Boroondara has lodged its concerns with the City of Yarra planning office.

Those who were in the area during the MFB site consultation will remember how the Minister stepped in and gave the developer a very favorable outcome. Planning issues such as these should be determined by the local community, and the Minister should support the local community, not the developer.
